What is autism?
In contrast to a medical-model lens, a neurodiversity-affirming lens recognizes that neurodiversity – the diversity of human brains – is normal, expected and enriches our communities.
Mental Health
Many Autistic individuals experience anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Caring for your mental health as an Autistic individual is unique.
Life Skills
Life skills are needed to perform daily tasks such as personal hygiene, housekeeping, time management, and financial budgeting. Performing these tasks every day can be exhausting.
Intersectional Identities
Research has shown that autism is often underdiagnosed in women and girls, as well as individuals from racial and ethnic minority groups, and trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals.
Disclosure / Self-Advocacy
Disclosure and self-advocacy are valuable tools to navigate the challenges of daily life and receive the support and accommodations needed to thrive.
Government Benefits
Autistic individuals in the United States may be eligible for government benefits.
