Description
This 90 minute workshop explores the personal and often complex decision of whether, when, and how to disclose an autism diagnosis or identity to others. It will examine potential benefits and risks, including increased understanding, access to support, greater authenticity, stigma, misunderstanding, and loss of privacy. The webinar will emphasize that disclosure is optional and may look different depending on the person, relationship, setting, and circumstances.
The session will address disclosure with family members, friends, romantic partners, coworkers, supervisors, educators, and healthcare providers. Attendees will learn practical strategies for deciding how much to share, communicating needs and boundaries, requesting support or accommodations, and preparing for a range of possible responses.
