Hi! My name is Clara Thörn, and I’m a doctoral candidate in the School Psychology program at UNC-Chapel Hill. I’m conducting a research study (IRB #25-0267) focused on better understanding the experiences of non-autistic siblings of individuals with autism. This study aims to gather expert insights from siblings, parents, and professionals to help identify strengths to build upon with effective social-emotional learning strategies for supporting siblings’ social and emotional well-being. By sharing your insights, you’ll be helping to shape strategies and tools that can better support siblings’ well-being and relationships within families like yours.
You are invited to participate if you are: a non-autistic sibling of someone with autism; or a parent of both autistic and non-autistic children; or a professional who works with autistic individuals.
Participation involves completing three short online surveys (each takes about 5 to 10 minutes) over the course of 2 to 3 months. You may be asked to reflect on or clarify your answers as part of a group feedback process. You can also choose to take part in an optional 10 to 30 minute follow-up interview to share more about your experiences.
Participation is fully remote and confidential. The total time commitment is about 1 to 2 hours. As a thank-you, you’ll receive up to three entries into a raffle for a $50 Visa gift card—one entry for each completed survey round.
If you are interested in participating, you can access the consent form and first survey at the link: https://unc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_doIonk49zA6BEk6. Feel free to share with others who may be eligible.
If you have any questions, I’m happy to help. You can reach me at [email protected] or (802) 375-4424.
