Research Study Description

We are inviting autistic adult women to participate in a research study exploring how they understand and experience friendship. This study aims to better understand how autistic women define friendship, how they distinguish friends from acquaintances, and how friendships begin and change over time, including how these experiences may differ from those of non‑autistic women.

Participation involves completing a short online questionnaire and taking part in a single 45–60 minute semi‑structured interview via video call. The interview focuses on personal perspectives and experiences of friendship; there are no right or wrong answers. Participation is voluntary, confidential, and for research purposes only.

If you are interested, you can learn more and determine your eligibility through a brief online survey. We hope this research will help amplify autistic women’s voices and contribute to a richer understanding of friendship.

We are looking for participants who meet all of the following criteria:
-Have a formal Autism diagnosis
-Are cisgender women
-Are between the ages of 18 and 28

Name of Organization:
Indiana University Bloomington
