Research Study Description

We are conducting a research study exploring gender identity and related experiences in autistic children ages 9-12. The study involves:
– A semi-structured interview with the child about their understanding of gender and gender identity
– A gender stereotype endorsement task for the child
– A brief parent interview about their child’s social responsiveness, repetitive behaviors, and gender identity, as well as answer some questions about their child’s history with sexuality and relationship education.

Our goal is to explore gender conceptualization and stereotype endorsement in autistic children. We hope this research will contribute to better understanding and support for autistic youth regarding gender identity.
