Research Study Description

Are you autistic and over 18 years old? Join a research study asking autistic people what they think about gender identity and sexual orientation! Conducted online, this voluntary study asks how autistic people understand the social concepts of gender identity and sexual orientation, both in general and personally. The aim is to see if autistic people think about these ideas in different ways than neurotypical peers.

When: November 8th & 9th, 2025, 3:00PM – 4:00PM ET. Participants will be invited into a private group on the instant messenger Signal for the study, where they will answer questions and chat with other autistic people about their answers. Participants can expect to spend one hour each day in the group chat. To participate, you must be: autistic, diagnosed or self-ID’d; over the age of 18 years old; living in the United States; have reliable Internet or mobile network technology access; able to use messaging app Signal; have an 8th grade English reading level; able to sign a consent form.
