Research Study Description

Parents of children with autism or other disabilities may feel that they do not have direct access to support networks and may feel isolated. The lack of social support networks for these parents can be a risk factor for stress and other mental health challenges (Seymour et al., 2020). The topic of social support networks for parents raising a child with ASD is essential to uncover what social support networks can benefit parents raising a child on the spectrum. The theoretical importance of social support networks for parents is to better understand how families may be impacted by the everyday challenges of raising a child with ASD.
