Research Study Description

When one child in a family has autism, the likelihood that a younger sibling will also be diagnosed increases to approximately 1 in 5. This study aims to better understand biological and clinical patterns within families by studying sibling pairs who receive ASD Insight™, including at least one sibling with a known autism diagnosis.

ASD Insight is a test that detects a biological signal associated with increased autism risk using a small skin sample, which can be collected in the participant’s home by one of NeuroQure’s partner mobile nurses. Researchers will review participants’ medical and developmental histories and examine how ASD Insight results compare between siblings and relate to clinical characteristics and developmental outcomes over time. Participants will provide health and developmental information, authorize medical record review, and complete annual updates for up to five years.

For eligible families, all fees associated with the healthcare provider consultation, in-home sample collection, and ASD Insight testing will be waived for both siblings. Findings from this study will help researchers better understand how autism-associated biological patterns may occur within families and support research toward earlier, more objective approaches to identifying autism risk.
