Research Study Description

This IRB-approved research study explores how artistic self-expression—through dance, music, or visual arts—supports emotional well-being among Autistic women. This study aims to center the voices and perspectives of Autistic women; the goal is to publish their thoughts and feelings about how the arts serve as a source of self-expression and mental well being.

I’m currently recruiting participants who:

• Are between the ages of 18–35
• Identify as Autistic and as a woman
• Have engaged in dance, music, or visual art as a hobby or practice in the past six months
• Are fluent in English (AAC use is welcome)
• Feel comfortable sharing their experiences—and if open to it, examples of their art—in a one-on-one interview

Participants will be selected following a brief screening. Interviews will be held in person in New York City at a mutually convenient time. Zoom interviews can also be held upon request.

If interested, you will be sent a consent form and a photo/artwork release form via DocuSign for review. Then, you (and your guardian, if applicable) can sign electronically. Audio versions of these documents can be provided upon request.

If someone you know may be interested, please feel free to forward the flyer hyperlink and this brief Google Form screener:
