Description
The experience of receiving a new diagnosis of autism or ADHD for the first time is formative in an individual’s self-concept. A strength-based and neurodivergent-affirming model for educating clients and loved ones about their neurodivergence promotes positive self-identity, hope for the future, and self-compassion, while a deficit-based model has been demonstrated to negatively impact the experience of receiving a new autism diagnosis. Psychiatrist Stacy Greeter, MD speaks from both the position of receiving a diagnosis of autism and ADHD herself and her ongoing clinical experience delivering new diagnoses of autism and ADHD to patients and families. She offers practical clinical strategies for a neurodiversity-affirming approach to diagnosis and treatment.
Please note that while the webinar will be recorded for future reference, attendees must be present for the live session on 5/8 in order to qualify for CE credits.
