Sponsor Impact Story: PLAN of MA & RI

A Trip of a Lifetime
Elise* is a 39-year-old Autistic woman, who is passionate about collectible dolls and Disney.
Elise opened a Special Needs Trust with PLAN in collaboration with her sister and guardian. PLAN’s service provides a licensed social worker as a service coordinator to act as the primary liaison, working with the beneficiary, the family, and the trust officer on how best to use the funds. When the service coordinator meets with a beneficiary and their family, they discuss current needs, future needs, and items on a beneficiary’s “wish” list. Elise expressed that her dream was a trip to Disney.
Elise and her family determined that using funds from her Special Needs Trust for a vacation would be a wonderful way to improve her quality of life. Her service coordinator helped the family connect with a travel agent and meet the beneficiaries wishes. Elise shared that her fondest memory from her trip was the “It’s a Small World” boat ride at the Magic Kingdom, where she saw dolls from all around the world. She is looking forward to planning her next trip with her family!
