Description

A workshop and discussion focusing on the similarities and differences between coaching and counseling, and the platforms each discipline professes. Discover and learn more about the parallels, overlaps, and distinctions between each practice and the complementary role life coaches have in supporting a client’s journey towards self-discovery and fulfillment.

Speakers

Pam Palmucci is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with several organizations in the Greater Boston area, in which the mission is to support, advocate, and empower individuals impacted by disabilities. Pam received her Master of Social Work from Simmons University and earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University. Pam is a former local television news producer who had a yearning to practice social work because she believes there is more to the story than just the story; it is about the people and impact of the story. Her focus shifted to disability advocacy because of her youngest child who is Autistic and now a young adult, who inspires her each day. Pam uses a strengths-based approach in both her daily professional and personal life to bring forth positivity and hopefulness.

Jean Sandler, MSW, is the Clinical Supervisor for the LifeMAP program at the AANE and also has worked as a LifeMAP Coach for ten years. Jean has worked with a variety of clients — her specialty is working with transition-age students as they navigate higher education, employment or building independent living skills. Jean also supports other LifeMAP coaches by providing clinical consultation for clients with more complex profiles. Since finishing her MSW from Boston University’s School of Social Work in 1997, a major focus of her work has been with people who have autism spectrum diagnoses.
