Research Study Description

We are testing the impact of a new transition support program for teenagers and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Stepped Transition to Employment and Postsecondary Education Success (STEPS) program is a one-on-one counseling program designed to support transition to growing independence among autistic adolescents and young adults.

Individuals who are eligible would be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to get either STEPS or community-based services in Alabama or Georgia. Autistic young adults and adolescents, ages 16 to 25, are invited to participate.

Each family will earn up to $240 for completion of study requirements.
