Description
(formerly Manhattan, NY) This open group meets on the first Tuesday of the month and provides support to family members of Autistic individuals. This includes grandparents, extended family, and siblings who have taken over the parental role or provide support to the Autistic individual. The aim of the group is to provide feedback, strategies, support, and perspective on a variety of common issues.
This group may include student observers who at times may serve as Assistant Facilitators. This is AANE’s way of helping to train future facilitators who are training to be providers in the autism community. They are usually graduate students in social work, psychology, counseling or school psychology. Any assistant facilitators present are introduced at the beginning of the meeting.
