Research Study Description

Dear Potential Parent or Guardian,

As a doctoral candidate in the Psychology Department at Liberty University, I am conducting research to better understand the experiences of families within the Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) community who have navigated the process of obtaining an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis for their school-aged children. The purpose of my research is to explore the diagnostic journeys that families in BIPOC communities undergo, particularly when they have received a different diagnosis prior to confirming ASD. I am writing to invite you to join my study.

Participants must be the parent of a school age child; additionally, participants must be the parent of a child who have been diagnosed with a condition other than ASD before eventually receiving their ASD diagnosis. Participants will be asked to take part in a one-on-one, audio-recorded, virtual, or in-person interview. It may take approximately 60 minutes to complete the procedure listed. If participant prefer not to be record, he/ she may still participate. Researcher will send he/ she the interview question to respond in written form after consent has been received. Participation will be completely anonymous, and no personal, identifying information will be collected. Participants will have the opportunity to review their interview transcripts for accuracy; additionally, each participant will be allowed 48-72 hours to do so.

To participate, please contact me at [email protected] to schedule an interview and be screened at that time. /etc. If you meet my participant criteria, I will work with you to schedule a time for an interview.
