Research Study Description

My name is Nic Rios and I am a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. I am conducting an interview-based research study examining the experiences and perspectives of medical and mental health providers who work with autistic transgender clients. In particular, I am interested in how providers work with autistic transgender folks who seek gender-affirming treatments (e.g. hormone replacement therapy and gender-affirming surgeries).

Participation in this study consists of a 60-90 minute interview over Zoom. Participants residing in the New York Metropolitan Area may opt for an in-person interview.

This study has been approved by the CUNY University-Integrated-Institutional Review Board (#2020-0354-Baruch). If you would like to participate in my study or if you have any questions, you can contact me via email at nrios@gradcenter.cuny.edu, or my advisor, Dr. Barbara Katz Rothman (BKatzRothman@gc.cuny.edu).
