Are you a middle or high school student with a disability who identifies as LGBTQ+?
If yes, I want to hear about your experiences with school connectedness and identity!
Eligibility Criteria:
Be in grades 6-12
Have a current IP for a disability
Identify as LGBTQ+
Have parent/guardian consent to allow you to participate in an interview and a focus group
This study will explore how LGBTQ+ adolescents with disabilities experience school connectedness and identity navigation (choosing to tell other people about your LGBTQ+ identity or disability). Participants will not be asked probing questions of a sensitive nature but instead will answer questions such as “What is it like having a disability?” or “Tell me about your peers. How are your interactions with other students at school?”
If you are eligible and interested, you will be invited to an interview in person or via Zoom for 30-45 minutes. You may also be invited to participate in a focus group with other LGBTQ+ adolescents with disabilities.
Participation is voluntary and all information will be confidential Pseudonyms will be used for all student and school names in this study. Findings from this study will be published in a doctoral dissertation. All participants will receive a $25.00 Amazon gift card!
