Research Study Description

We hope this message finds you well. We are excited to inform you about a unique
opportunity to contribute to a study conducted by Newcastle University focusing on the
experience of living “between two worlds” as a Neurodivergent individual.

Why Your Participation Matters:
Many Neurodivergent individuals employ strategies of masking or mirroring in public to
align with neurotypical norms, creating a distinct dichotomy between public and private
identity. Alternating between two constructed identities presents uncertainties and can
contribute to a dysregulated sense of self. Your insights are valuable in understanding
how ND individuals navigate these challenges.

The study aims to uncover the psychological impacts of “masking” and “unmasking”
and explore strategies for reducing psychological harm. By participating, you play a
crucial role in developing understanding and shaping targeted interventions to alleviate
distress, and support those affected by the emotional toll of “living between two
conflicting worlds”.

How to Participate:
Taking part is easy and requires only 20 minutes of your time. Your responses will be treated with confidentiality, and you can withdraw from the study at any time.

Your engagement is essential to the success of this study, and we appreciate your time
and commitment to making a positive impact.
