Interviewing Youth & Parents on Transitions to Adulthood

Dear youth and parents,

My name is Valerie Leiter and I am a professor at Simmons College. I am doing a study of transition to adulthood funded by the William T. Grant Foundation and am looking for youth and parents who would be interested in sharing their transition stories. The youth should be leaving high school in the next two years, or left high school in the last year, and received special education or Section 504 services in high school.

I would like to meet with youth and parents for 1.5 hours to discuss your dreams and plans for the future. The interviews would be at a time and place of your choice--typically we go out to families' homes to make it most convenient and comfortable for them. We will accommodate your schedule. I do the parent interviews and my 22-year old research assistant Lexie does the youth interviews. I value your time and expertise and will provide a $25 VISA gift card for the youth and one for the parents.
